swimming-ish, jewellery making, knitting....

thats what i have been up today and it has been so goooood, such a good day. the kind that makes me so thankful to be alive TODAY!

quite ironic really cuz if i just looked at the potential its fairly bad weather outside especially for june 30th (my american friend casey is probably crying over it as i write!) and really i haven't any huge exciting plans today, but its just one of those days, when life makes me smile! lots!

basically ended up making a wee pink and white bracelet for 4 year old laura who i live with who is at her birthday party right now - bella of the ball, she looked so cute in her pink fairy dress as she left today. knitting can only be explained in the fact that i have been knitting a baby blanket for my new niece isabelle rose gooding for too long, and to be honest she'll probably have learnt to knit herself by the time i finish it!!!! but the fact i managed to do some is a miracle in itself cuz i can only do it when chatting with friends or watching a movie, and luckily with the house to myself this afternoon, 'calandar girls' was just shouting out from the shelf to be watched - so i did! It was a good chuckle - what would i do to be as quirkly as those ladies in my final age - the mos glorious!!! if you've watched it too you'll know what i mean! anyway time to wash chlorine out of my half brown, half now black locks and decided whether to go to a gig or have a night in!!!! decisions, decisions....they never get easier!

Fresh beginnings Day 29

So it is the 1st September 2009, day 29 since I arrived in NZ. I have moved into a home with Mel and Bev, daughter and mother, co-landlords and girls that are becoming great friends. They have welcomed me, oozed generosity and just generally been amazing. I was put in touch with them through a girl called Clare, who worked here at the hospital 2 years ago and lived with them. The radical part is (yes, radical is a word I realised today I have started using - Mel uses it in a shortened version 'rad') that Clare and her husband have just moved to KwaZulu Natal, South Africa to work there. When she emailed me and Mel each other's details all the way from SA, Mel was in Thailand with work and I was in Christchurch. The previous week Mel had put an advert in a local cafe for the room. Initially she had specified she was looking for a 'Christian' housemate and then decided to cross it out despite her possible real hopes for a fellow crispy for her and Bev to live with. In

summer holidays

so today i have completely flaked out - its quite unbelievable but after all my written exams yesterday i just really needed to - feeling a bit guilty about lack of work but i am sure tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day will make up for that. what was most exciting is that i booked a short holiday for late june, after my job shadowing with my good friend liz here .i cannot actually believe we will be reading books (of a non-medical variety), lazing on beaches, cycling, enjoying some good wine and generally relaxing, with no agenda - i only wish it was for more than 3 night! ha ha.... i can't believe i managed to complain at the end of that! i know, i know i have nothing to complain about! am in fact feeling oh so very thankful at the mo - its a good feeling!
